Not Included

Some things aren’t included in the package because they vary from client to client and some are recurring costs inherent with owning a website.

  • Domain Registration – Registering your domain name and keeping it registered is a low recurring expense, typically $15 per year.
  • Hosting – Hosting your website on the web is a low recurring expense.  We charge $30 per month for managed hosting and we’re also happy to work with other hosting accounts as long as they support WordPress for this package.
  • WordPress Theme – Your site theme is not included in the price of this package because it can vary from free to thousands of dollars for a custom theme.  Typically, a very professional pre-designed theme can be purchased for about $35.
  • Custom Graphic Design or Media – Cost for this varies greatly depending on what you need.

Step 1 – Planning

First, we need to form a plan for your new site.  We’ll need to discuss each of these items:

Item Description Additional Cost
Domain Name If you do not have one already, use www.godaddy.com to find one that’s available.  We can help you get it registered but availability is the primary concern at this point. ~ $15/yr
Hosting We can host your site for you for $35/month invoiced quarterly or work with another provider that supports WordPress sites. ~ $35/mo
WordPress Theme One of the best money savers of this package is using a pre-designed WordPress theme instead of a custom design.  Many small businesses don’t need a custom design and don’t have the budget for it.  Pre-designed themes are very inexpensive – some free.  Check out the themes at www.themeforest.net. ~ $35 One Time
Logo If you have been in business for much time at all, you most likely already have a logo designed.  We’ll need your logo in a digital format – PNG, GIF, JPG image files are all fine.   If you do not have a logo or would like a new one, we can help.
Google Account Before we get started building your site, you’ll need a Google Account.  We use your Google account to link Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools to your site.  This enables you to monitor how your site is performing and is invaluable when you start making adjustments to your site content.
Email Accounts Included in this package is setting up Email accounts on your new domain.  If you choose “aplusplumbing.com” as your domain, this allows you to have email addresses like: sales@aplusplumbing.com.  We use a free version of Google Apps for Business that will allow up to 50 email addresses on your domain.
Will you Blog? WordPress includes a blogging feature that allows you to have a blog on your site.  You should think about whether you want to only have typical website pages or if you’d like to include a blog on your site.  If you choose to blog, you should add content at least once a month to your blog.
Maintainers Contact Information Are you maintaining the site yourself or do you have office staff that will be maintaining the site?  We’ll need contact information for everyone you want involved in your web site project.
Facebook Page Do you have a Facebook page for your business?  If you do, we’ll want to know what it is so we can build the site to link to it.  If you don’t have a Facebook page for your business, you should seriously consider it.
Twitter Account Another popular social media service is Twitter.  If you’re producing content on your website (which is highly recommended), you should share and promote your content with social media.  A Twitter account is part of that.
LinkedIn Account Do you have a business page on LinkedIn?  LinkedIn is another social media site geared toward business relationships and networking.  Don’t leave it out in your social media marketing and promotion plan.
Site Content We’ll install up to 5 pages on your site before training day when we’ll show you how to add more.  To install the initial pages, we’ll need the actual text you’d like to use on your site and any photos you’d like to include as well.

Step 2 – Setup

Once planning is done and we have everything we need to get started from the table above, we’ll install and configure your new site, setup your email accounts, and get you scheduled for training.

Step 3 – Training

The highlight of this package is the included training.  Attending the training sessions is not mandatory but highly recommended.  When you complete the training workshops, you will have the skills required to maintain your own website and do it better than many professionals.

Included in this package are two training sessions, typically given on the same day:

Intro to WordPress

Intro to SEO
